Those that share a passion for Christmas and Christmas Lights can now join the Festival of Lights team and and part of something special in the Quincy community.
“It isn’t just putting up and taking down the display,”explained Festival of Lights President, Eric Dooley. “We need volunteers on all areas of this giant annual event. We would sure welcome Volunteers in joining our Fundraising Committees and Charitable and Volunteer Outreach committees and more. Its not just one single area, if you are willing to help, we would love to hear from you,” continued Dooley.
Dooley says that more volunteers are needed than ever before and for good reason. “We don’t want to ask too much of any one person, we really want to be able to have someone’s annual contribution to the display be something that they can feel good about and that doesn’t require more of them and their time than they can give; for that reason we are really trying to spread out the work over a larger number of people, to make it more manageable,” said Dooley.
Dooley knows that it’s not always easy to find time in a busy schedule. “People really value their time and we do too, that is why it is meaningful to those of us at the Festival of Lights when someone gives of their time to this project. Like so many projects in our community that would simply not exist if it weren’t for the dedicated volunteers that give of their time, the Festival of Lights only exist through the loyal volunteers that take it upon themselves to see that the work of having a display is completed; without the volunteers it is impossible for the display to continue,” concluded Dooley.
